Day 27 Devo - The Love of Christ


I pray that out of His glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner most being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge - that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.   (Ephesians 3:16-19)


The Holy Spirit strengthens us with supernatural power to be able to know the infinite love of Christ. His love has no limits or boundaries. Our own love has very definite limits. No matter how much you love someone, there are many things they could do to you to make you love them less. Our love is always somewhat dependent on another's response. This is not true with God's love. His love is unconditional. He loves us just because He wants to. He loved us when we were lost in sin, and He loves us now in spite of all our sins and shortcomings. The blood of Jesus covers all the offenses that could have separated us from God's love. His love has triumphed.


Point to Ponder:

The blood of Jesus also covers all of the offenses of others against us. The love of Jesus must triumph in us also, and overcome the limits of our imperfect love. The Holy Spirit wants to fill us with Jesus' unconditional love! When He fills us, He brings supernatural power to overlook others' faults and offenses, and love them anyway, as Jesus does!  God is love - perfect and enduring love. When we let the Spirit fill us with His perfect love, then we will know what it means to be filled with the fullness of God.
