Lesson 6 - The Returning King

"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

                                          - Jesus (Matthew 24: 30-31)

Those who love Jesus Christ hope for His return above anything else. At the time of His return, the believers will be forever thrilled to see His awesome glory and power, but the unbelievers will cower in terror before Him. When the ones who rejected Jesus finally see Him as He really is - the eternal Mighty God - it will be much more than they can endure. The sight of His glory will truly be a terrible nightmare to them, but it will be pure ecstasy to His loved ones!

The apostle John saw a vision of His return in Revelation 19: 11-16. Today's this verse will be our Point to Ponder.

I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horses, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice He judges and makes war. His eyes are like blazing fire, and on His head are many crowns. He has a name written on Him that no one but He Himself knows. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is the Word of God. The armies in heaven were following Him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. Out of His mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. He will rule them with an iron scepter. He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. On His robe and on His thigh He has this name written:

“KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS”
